Humid Rainy Season/장마기간 습하다 습하다 습하다

Humid...Humid....Humid!!!

This word, humid, has been one of the most frequent used words in Korea these days, which means the rainy season has begun. Korea has the rainy season, which is called 'jangma' every year. It usually starts at the end of June, but started in early July in 2017. The weather forecast said it would last about two weeks.

Korea's annual average precipitation is 1,283 millimeters, and the rainy season takes up to about 40 percent of the total rainfall. The rain often causes a great deal of damage to the crops, even takes people's lives. After this season is over, it will be searingly hot nationwide.

In fact, I love rainy days, so this season doesn't matter at all. But the thing is high humidity. It's so humid as well as hot throughout the season. A friend of mine sent a text message while traveling in Taipei: "Incredibly hot and humid. If you want to come here, you have to visit in winter!" I guess it's very humid in Taipei, but to me, Korea could be the most humid country.

If you're planning to visit Korea, you should avoid this season. You probably bring an umbrella many times wherever you go. To top it off, your t-shirt would be wet in a short time due to high humidity.

In short, it's humid nowadays :(
